Why does Postly show my personal channel instead of my main channel?
A Google sign-in can be associated with a personal YouTube channel and Brand Account channels. The channel you manage in YouTube Studio is not necessarily the channel authorized for a third-party app.
Start with the Google account that owns the intended channel. Select the correct account and channel during authorization when Google offers the choice, then check the connected channel name in Postly before uploading or scheduling.
Check ownership and permissions
An invitation under YouTube Studio → Settings → Permissions gives access to supported YouTube and Studio features. Google states that invited users cannot access YouTube APIs, which Postly uses. Being able to upload in Studio therefore does not prove that the same login can connect that channel to Postly.
For a Brand Account, review the Google account that owns it and the associated channel. Brand Account access and YouTube Studio channel permissions are different systems. Ask the channel owner to complete authorization if your invited login cannot expose the channel. You do not need to share a password or transfer channel ownership to Postly.
Connection checklist
- Confirm the channel name and handle in YouTube, and check which Google account owns it.
- Open Postly Channels / Social Accounts in the intended workspace.
- Choose YouTube and connect using that Google account.
- Select the intended channel if Google presents a channel chooser, and approve the requested permissions.
- Check the channel displayed in Postly before creating a publishing schedule.
- If the wrong Google account keeps appearing, follow the multiple account connection steps.
If a third-party flow does not support channel switching, Google documents a default-channel setting. Review it carefully: it also affects other third-party apps using the same account. Do not move or delete a channel to troubleshoot its display.
How can a client connect their channel?
Use Share Connection Link so the owner can authorize their channel without sending you their Google password. Verify the workspace and channel after authorization.
Does reconnecting publish a failed upload?
No. Reconnecting restores authorization; it does not confirm publication. Review the post status and channel before retrying to avoid an unintended duplicate upload.
