Facebook Linked Carousel is the separate feature for image cards with individual destination links. A Facebook Feed Post can contain several images, but does not give each image a separate destination URL. An Instagram Image Carousel is also a different format.
| Format | Content | Dashboard choice | API / MCP settings | CSV / Google Sheets |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Facebook Multi-image Feed Post | Up to 10 images in one normal feed post | Facebook Feed Post | share_to_feed=true, share_as_carousel=false; put images in media or feed_media_override | share_to_facebook_feed=true; multiple image URLs |
| Facebook Linked Carousel | 2–10 image cards, each with a destination URL | Facebook Linked Carousel | share_as_carousel=true; supply settings.carousel cards and turn other placements off | Linked-card fields are not currently supported |
| Instagram Image Carousel | 2–10 swipeable feed images, without separate card links | Instagram Feed | Instagram feed settings and image media | Instagram feed columns and image URLs |
Dashboard
For normal Facebook photos, select Facebook Feed Post and add the images to the feed. Leave Facebook Linked Carousel off.
For linked cards, select Facebook Linked Carousel and fill its separate card builder. Add each image and the page it should open. Headline and description are optional. The dashboard switches off Feed, Story and Reel when you select this mode.
The builder accepts up to ten image cards. Meta’s Page Feed API reference describes up to ten submitted cards when optimization is enabled, with the top five displayed. Card submission and display are different limits; Facebook controls the final display. Postly does not reduce the builder to five cards.
API and MCP
Keep the existing field names below; the clearer labels do not rename the API. In MCP, request the Facebook channel schema before creating the post.
These examples show one entry inside platform_posts, not a complete publishing request. Supply the workspace, selected Facebook Page and other required post fields separately.
Normal multi-image feed post:
{
"identifier": "facebook",
"settings": {
"identifier": "facebook",
"share_to_feed": true,
"share_as_carousel": false
},
"feed_media_override": [
{"type": "image", "remote_url": "https://example.com/photo-1.jpg"},
{"type": "image", "remote_url": "https://example.com/photo-2.png"}
]
}
Facebook Linked Carousel:
{
"identifier": "facebook",
"settings": {
"identifier": "facebook",
"share_to_feed": false,
"share_as_story": false,
"share_as_reel": false,
"share_as_carousel": true,
"carousel": [
{
"picture_url": "https://example.com/product-1.jpg",
"link": "https://example.com/products/1",
"headline": "First product"
},
{
"picture_url": "https://example.com/product-2.jpg",
"link": "https://example.com/products/2",
"headline": "Second product"
}
]
}
}
Each card needs a public image URL. Give each card a destination link when you want it to open a product or landing page. If a card link is omitted, Postly uses the shared see_more_url, when present, or the image URL. Headline and description are optional.
CSV and Google Sheets
Use multiple image URLs for ordinary feed photos and share_to_facebook_feed=true. Keep share_as_facebook_carousel false or leave it out. The current templates do not have linked-card fields; setting the legacy carousel flag alone cannot create linked cards. Create linked carousels in the dashboard or through the API/MCP example above.
After publishing
Deleting a post is different from editing a single card. See Content Management for Delete from Postly, Delete on Platforms, Delete Everywhere, all-platform support, and partial results.
See the Content Format Guide for image sizes, video lengths, Reels and Stories, and the Facebook Linked Carousel page for the feature overview.
