WhatsApp campaign checklist: recipients, variables and replies
Review a WhatsApp campaign's intended recipients, personalized fields and reply handling before scheduling customer messages.

Before you start
Use the WhatsApp connection and workflow currently enabled for your account. Follow its recipient and template requirements; do not assume all WhatsApp connection methods have identical capabilities.
Prepare and review the release
- Choose the audience that expects this message. Check the recipient source and remove records that should no longer receive the campaign.
- Review the selected message or template and map every variable to the correct recipient field. Preview a complete record and a record with a missing optional value.
- Check the destination link, timing and owner for replies. Keep confidential customer details out of broad campaign messages.
- Review delivery outcomes separately from scheduling success. Route replies to the responsible team and update audience records when preferences change.
Worked example
A workshop reminder needs first name, session date and booking link. The reviewer catches a row where the date column was mapped into the greeting, then checks that the booking link opens the correct session. This is an example field review, not a required import schema.
If something goes wrong
- Blank personalization: correct the mapping or use a message that does not require the missing field.
- Template rejected or unavailable: inspect the requirements of the active connection method.
- Delivery failure: retain the per-recipient result and resolve its cause before retrying.
