Billing
What is a social account?

What is a Social Account?

Every unique connection to a social account profile is a Social Account, e.g. a Facebook account connection. The Facebook pages will not count toward your billing.

For example, if you connect (1) Facebook account with 10 pages, (2) Twitter / X accounts, (1) Bluesky account, and (1) Google Business Profile with 5 locations, you're managing (5) Social Accounts.

How does Postly pricing work?

Postly pricing is primarily based on the number of social channels you connect. You can start small and scale up anytime by adding more channels. As your channel count increases, the price per channel decreases automatically based on tiered pricing.

Can I increase or reduce my channel count later?

Yes. You can increase or reduce your channel count at any time from the Plans & Billing page. Changes are applied immediately and prorated based on the time remaining in your billing cycle.

What are Postly add-ons?

Add-ons unlock specialized capabilities on top of your existing Postly plan. They are optional and can be subscribed to independently without upgrading your main plan. Current add-ons include AI Studio, X-Pro, API Access, and Custom Telegram Bots.

Do add-ons require a plan upgrade?

No. Add-ons are independent subscriptions and can be stacked on top of any eligible Postly plan based on your needs.

Can I subscribe to an add-on for just one month?

Yes. Add-ons are billed monthly and can be enabled or canceled anytime before the next billing cycle. This allows you to activate them only when needed.

What does AI Studio include?

AI Studio provides AI-powered content creation tools including caption generation, marketing copy, AI image generation, and AI video creation. It helps you produce content faster while maintaining consistent brand messaging.

What is Postly X-Pro?

Postly X-Pro is an advanced toolkit designed specifically for growing on X. It includes thread publishing, automation tools, smart quote discovery, engagement tracking, and growth analytics.

Do I need X-Pro to connect an X account?

No. You can publish to X normally with any Postly plan. X-Pro unlocks advanced automation, analytics, and growth tools designed for creators and power users.

What is API Access used for?

API Access allows developers and advanced users to connect Postly with other tools or internal systems. It enables automated publishing workflows, custom integrations, and external applications such as Google Sheets automation.

What is the Custom Telegram Bot add-on?

The Custom Telegram Bot add-on allows you to launch and manage a branded Telegram automation bot connected to your Postly workflows. It can be used for automated announcements, content distribution, alerts, and community engagement.

How do I pay for a Postly subscription?

Postly subscriptions are processed securely via Stripe, a global payment platform.

Stripe Payment Options

  • Credit & Debit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • SEPA Direct Debit (EU)

Annual billing includes an approximate 20% discount compared to monthly pricing.

How do upgrades or downgrades affect billing?

Changes to your subscription are prorated. This means you only pay the difference between plans based on the remaining time in your billing cycle.

Can I start with the free plan first?

Yes. You can start with the Starter plan to test your workflow and upgrade later when you need more channels, automation tools, or advanced features.

Workspaces
What is an Organization?

An organization represents the name of your business entity.

What are Workspaces?

a. A Workspace is a dedicated page for your brand, product, or clients, where you can invite team members to collaborate on content strategy and publishing.
b. Workspaces are secure and private—team members in different Workspaces cannot interact.
c. A Free Plan user on a premium Workspace accesses premium features, and vice versa.
d. Premium plans offer unlimited Workspaces.

I want to share my workspaces with my clients. Does each workspace have its own scheduler and privacy?

a. You can allocate a separate Workspace per client.
b. Each Workspace operates independently, with its own scheduling and publishing settings.
c. Clients in separate Workspaces cannot view each other's content.

Is it possible to assign ownership to more than one team member? Will they have access to all the Workspaces?

Ownership roles can be assigned to as many people as needed, but access is granted only to the Workspaces you assign.

I invited my clients to my workspace. Will they view my billing and account details?

Each user only sees their own billing and account details. Most likely, they are on a free plan, and that is what they’ll see. No user, regardless of their role or team membership, can see another user’s billing plan or account details. This section is entirely personal.

What happens to the workspace I invited them to if they upgrade their free account to a paid plan?

Your invitation only grants them access to your workspace, not your account. Their account remains fully independent. They can manage their own workspaces separately, and the only overlap is when they switch to your shared workspace— where they can view, approve, or review posts based on permissions.

If they add their own paid workspaces, will they still see the one I shared with them?

Yes, they will see both the workspace you shared with them and any other workspaces they create under their own account.

Can they transfer everything from the shared workspace to their paid workspace?

No, transferring data across workspaces is not supported at the moment.

Why do I see 'Cast to ObjectId failed for value' when creating an account?

This usually happens when an existing organization or workspace name is selected by mistake during setup. To fix this, please choose to create a new organization and workspace during the setup process.

Social Accounts
How many pages, groups, and channels can I publish per plan?

You can publish to unlimited channels and pages per platform. There is no limit to the number of channels you can manage. You are only limited by the number of social accounts you can connect to Postly.

Note: Each unique connection to a social account profile is a Social Account e.g., a Facebook account connection. The Facebook pages will not count toward your billing.

Why do my platforms disconnect once in a while?

a. API tokens expire once in a while - we have built a workaround to extend this to 12 months for most platforms.
b. Signing out or changing passwords disconnects the accounts.
c. Exceeding your daily post limit or violating platform policies may also cause disconnections.

What can I do if my platform accounts keep disconnecting?

a. Never sign out of your accounts in your browser.
b. Avoid exceeding your daily post limit and adhere to platform policies.

What does error (#10) "Application does not have permission for this action" mean?

It means you didn't accept all permissions when connecting your Facebook or Instagram account. Please disconnect and reconnect, ensuring you grant all requested permissions.

I added more channels (e.g., more Google Business Profile locations). How do I update them on Postly?

After adding new channels on your platform, reconnect the account in Postly to update the channels.

Why do I need to reconnect my accounts regularly?

Regular reconnection keeps your accounts active and prevents publishing interruptions. Many platforms require periodic re-authentication for security.

How often should I reconnect my accounts?

Follow the reconnection prompts on your platform. Timely reconnection prevents issues with scheduled posts.

Will my scheduled posts be affected during the reconnection process?

No. Reconnecting your accounts will not impact posts that have already been scheduled.

What happens if I do not reconnect in time?

If not reconnected on time, your publishing may be interrupted, and you may see errors until the accounts are reconnected.

How do I reconnect my accounts?

Follow the steps on your Platforms page to quickly reconnect and restore full publishing functionality.

I manage over 200 Google Business Profile locations for my clients. How do I connect them for unique bulk posts?

  2. If multiple clients use the same email, all locations appear under one workspace. Instead:
  3. a. Create up to 200 workspaces, each linked to one client, or
    b. Use a unique email per client (e.g., client_name_yourname@gmail.com) to assign each workspace.
  4. c. Or delegate connection by granting clients Admin access (remember to refresh connections every 60 days).
  5. Learn how to create workspaces in bulk at the Workspace page
Why is my post not displaying on my Location despite showing as published on Postly?
  1. Obtain manager-level access for managing Locations.
  2. Accept all necessary permissions for posting.
  3. Avoid including contact numbers or links in the text; instead, add them on images or the Call-to-action field.
I have issues connecting multiple accounts of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, etc.
  1. Some platforms don't allow multiple accounts in the same browser session.
  2. Log in to each account in separate tabs before connecting.
  3. Or connect one account at a time by signing in and out.

Why do I get this error? OAuthException: Your account future activity history off Meta technologies is currently turned off. Please visit Accounts Centre to change it.

The OAuthException error indicates that your account's future activity history on Meta technologies (like Instagram or Facebook) is currently turned off. To resolve this, visit the Settings page of the affected account to turn off the necessary settings.

For a step-by-step guide, you can also watch this video: How to Fix OAuthException Error on Instagram.

How to fix the "400: Session Invalid" error on Instagram?

The "400: Session Invalid" error typically occurs when there's an issue with a third-party app's connection to Instagram. Here’s how to fix it:

  1. Open Instagram in a browser (mobile preferred as some users report better results).
  2. Navigate to Settings > Security > Apps and Websites.
  3. Look under both the Active and Expired tabs for the third-party platform (e.g. Postly).
  4. Click Remove or Disconnect next to the app.
  5. Return to the third-party platform and try reconnecting your Instagram account.

This process will reset the connection and typically resolves the issue.

Why can’t I connect my LinkedIn account on Postly?

If you're unable to connect your LinkedIn account and see an error like: "Sorry, something went wrong. Please close the page and try again.", it may be because your LinkedIn profile is missing a profile photo.

  1. Log in to your LinkedIn account directly.
  2. Upload a clear profile picture to your LinkedIn profile (required by LinkedIn's API).
  3. Wait a few minutes to ensure your profile updates successfully.
  4. Return to Postly and try connecting your LinkedIn account again.

Once a profile photo is added, the connection should work normally. If the issue persists, please contact our support team at support@postly.ai.

Will using Postly get my account banned?

Short answer: No. Postly publishes through official, platform-approved APIs (e.g., Instagram Graph API by Meta, LinkedIn Marketing API, X API v2, YouTube Data API, TikTok Business APIs, etc.). We never ask for your password or use unofficial methods.

If an account is ever flagged, common causes are:

  • It was previously connected to an unofficial tool or automation app.
  • There were rapid bursts of actions (posting/liking/following) across tools or devices.
  • A recent password, role/page, or token change caused a temporary session conflict.
  • Platform policy requirements weren’t met (e.g., Instagram requires a Business/Creator account connected to a Facebook Page for API publishing).

To stay safe:

  1. Use Postly as your only scheduler; disconnect other apps or browser extensions that ask for credentials.
  2. Reconnect accounts via the official OAuth flow if you change passwords, page roles, or permissions.
  3. Avoid running multiple tools on the same account simultaneously.
  4. Match the platform's required account type (e.g., Instagram Business/Creator + Facebook Page).

If you were flagged:

  1. Remove any unofficial apps from your account settings.
  2. Wait a short window (often 24–48 hours) for sessions to normalize.
  3. Reconnect in Postly using the official OAuth prompt.
  4. Resume with normal posting cadence and avoid rapid bursts of activity.

Why don’t all my social accounts or pages appear when I try to connect them on Postly?

Postly uses only official APIs from each platform — which means the platform itself determines what accounts, pages, or channels appear when you connect. Postly cannot modify or override what the API returns.

Below are the most common reasons why not all accounts show up, and what’s required for each platform:

  • LinkedIn: Only Super Admins can connect a Page. If your profile is a Content Admin, Analyst, or Editor, the Page will not appear during connection.
  • Facebook: You must be a Page Admin to connect. Editor or Moderator roles will not be recognized by the Facebook Graph API.
  • YouTube: Only your own verified channels will appear. Managed or brand channels that belong to another account or organization will not be listed unless you own them directly.
  • Google Business Profile: You need to be a Manager or Ownerof the business location. View-only or site manager roles are not sufficient for API access.

Other possible causes include:

  • Recent password change or revoked app permissions (tokens need to be refreshed).
  • Browser cache or session conflicts — try reconnecting via an Incognito/Private window.
  • Multiple platform accounts logged in at once — ensure you’re signed into the correct one before connecting.
  • Recent role updates not yet synced — some platforms take a few hours to refresh permissions via their API.

To fix this:

  1. Log out of all platform accounts (LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, etc.).
  2. Log back in with the account that owns or manages the target Pages or Channels.
  3. Open Postly → Add Account → select the platform → follow the on-screen authorization (OAuth) process.

Once the platform confirms your access, the eligible Pages, Channels, or Profiles will appear automatically. These permissions are fully controlled by each platform’s API, not by Postly.

If you’ve confirmed your role and it still doesn't show up, try again after 24–48 hours or contact our team at support@postly.ai.

How do I upload an Instagram video thumbnail?

Seek a specific timestamp in your video to set as the thumbnail.

My post is marked as published on Postly but does not display on the social platform?

a. Ensure all permissions are accepted during account connection.
b. Do not alter settings during the connection process for Facebook, Instagram, etc.

c. If you encounter error (#10), disconnect and reconnect your account after accepting all permissions.
d. Reconnecting will not affect already scheduled posts.
e. Logging out or changing passwords may disconnect your account—reconnect as needed.

Can I publish to Instagram accounts?

Only Instagram Business or Professional Accounts can be published from the web. For personal profiles or Creator accounts, use the mobile app’s Share Post feature.

Will switching to an Instagram personal account affect my scheduled posts?

Yes, switching to a personal account will break your Instagram connection and cancel scheduled posts. Switch back to a professional account and reconnect to restore publishing.

How do I publish YouTube Shorts?

a. YouTube Shorts are published automatically once you upload a video that meets the Shorts criteria: vertical and aligned with YouTube Shorts requirements. This happens even if you choose a different category ID while publishing.
b. Ensure your video meets the 9:16 aspect ratio; the API converts qualifying videos automatically.

Threads publishing: Why is there a delay in publishing replies?

Replies via the API are posted 15–30 seconds after the main content is published.

What happens when I try to post an image exceeding 5MB?

Postly auto-transforms images to meet platform requirements. If an image exceeds the limit, it's removed to avoid publishing issues. You’ll be notified via dashboard messages.

Is it possible to upload a thumbnail for videos?

Pinterest, YouTube, and Instagram require a video thumbnail. Note that Instagram only allows selecting a frame from the video.

How do I set up "Mod Approval" for every Reddit post?

Set your community's spam filter level to “all” in Mod Tools > Posts & Comments > Spam filter strength. Refer to Reddit's Mod Approval for details.

Why doesn’t my Reddit post include the message I wrote?

Reddit only displays a message body for text posts. If you publish a video, image, or link post, Reddit will only show the title - not the message body or caption. This is a limitation of Reddit's platform, not a bug in Postly.

If your post needs to include a message or explanation, we recommend using a text post with the video or link included in the body.

Can I schedule recurring posts every 8 hours?

Social platforms typically reject duplicate content posted within 24 hours. This is why recurring posts in hourly mode aren't supported.

Does TikTok allow photos?

No, TikTok only allows video posts. If you're trying to post images, they won't be accepted by the platform.

Can I post videos and images at the same time?

No, most social platforms do not support combining images and videos in the same post. To avoid publishing issues, post images and videos separately.

Is tagging available on all platforms?

Tagging is only available on Bluesky at the moment.

Can I add thumbnail images to my posts?

Yes, you can add thumbnails to YouTube, Pinterest, and Instagram. For YouTube and Pinterest, you can upload an image file, while for Instagram, the API requires that you use a section of the video frame for the thumbnail. Our tool will allow you to select this section by moving the timer to the specific section of the video that you want to use as the thumbnail image.

Can I publish a first comment with my post?

Yes, you can publish a first comment on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Can I publish to my Facebook personal profile?

No, publishing to personal profiles is not supported by the API. You can only publish to Facebook pages.

What happens if I don’t accept all permissions when connecting a platform?

If you connect a platform and don't accept all required permissions, your posts will not be published, and you won’t see any error messages. This can lead to confusion about why publishing fails.

✅ To avoid this issue, make sure to accept all requested permissions during the connection process.

Why can’t I publish to new TikTok accounts via Postly?

TikTok has strict publishing limitations for new accounts to prevent spam and abuse. If you're using Postly to publish content to a newly created TikTok account, your post might fail due to TikTok's automated spam detection.

🚫 New TikTok accounts are more likely to trigger these restrictions, especially when using third-party tools like Postly.

✅ We recommend manually publishing from the TikTok app for a while, engaging with content, and gradually integrating Postly once your account builds more credibility.

What are TikTok’s limits on third-party publishing?

TikTok's API has specific limits that apply to all third-party tools like Postly. These include:

  • 20 posts per day per account.
  • 5 pending shares allowed within 24 hours.
  • Unaudited tools can only post to private accounts.

📌 These rules are in place to protect TikTok's ecosystem and ensure that content posted via third-party tools meets their standards.

How can I successfully use Postly with a new TikTok account?

If you're starting fresh on TikTok, follow these steps to ensure smooth publishing:

  • Post manually from the TikTok app for your first few weeks.
  • Engage with other accounts to build authenticity.
  • Gradually add Postly to your workflow once your account is active.

🛡️ These best practices reduce the chance of TikTok flagging your account for spam-like behavior and help ensure your posts go live successfully.

Why do my images or videos look slightly lower in quality when published via Postly?

Many social platforms automatically compress or optimize files uploaded through third-party APIs to save bandwidth and storage. This can result in slightly reduced sharpness or resolution compared to uploads made directly from the platform’s official app.

For example, Instagram's in-app option "Upload at highest quality"ensures top-tier resolution, but that setting isn’t accessible via the API — meaning tools like Postly must rely on the platform’s default compression rules.

  • Always upload the highest-quality version of your image or video.
  • Avoid reusing files that were previously compressed or downloaded from social media.
  • Ensure your file meets the platform’s optimal size and format (e.g., JPEG for images, MP4 for videos).

📸 Following these steps helps minimize quality loss even when the platform performs compression during upload.

Media Library & Assets
How can I manage the number of images or videos per platform?

Postly automatically optimizes your media per platform. When you upload multiple images or videos, Postly adjusts formatting, ordering, and limits based on each platform’s native requirements (carousel limits, thumbnail handling, aspect ratios, etc.). You’ll receive smart prompts if adjustments are needed before publishing.

Can I reuse media across posts and workspaces?
