TikTok publishing checklist: privacy, disclosures and status

Review TikTok audience choices, interaction settings and disclosures, then distinguish an accepted upload from a published video.

By the Postly Team

Before you start

Connect the intended creator account and prepare a finished video. Available privacy and interaction choices depend on the account and TikTok's current permissions.

Prepare and review the release

  1. Confirm the creator account and choose an available audience. Do not carry privacy assumptions from another account into this release.
  2. Review comment, Duet and Stitch settings shown for the account. Add branded-content or AI-content disclosures when applicable to the actual video.
  3. Submit or schedule the prepared post in Postly and keep its result. Native editing features and API publishing have different capabilities; finish any required native-only edits before choosing a publishing method.
  4. Check the processing outcome and open the published video. Verify visibility using the audience you intended, rather than relying only on an upload-accepted message.

Worked example

A creator prepares a sponsored demonstration of a coffee grinder. The approval note names the sponsor, the intended audience and the allowed interactions. The teammate checking the release confirms the disclosure and product claim as well as the video itself.

If something goes wrong

  • Audience option missing: use the choices currently allowed for that creator rather than forcing a saved value.
  • Upload accepted but no public post: inspect processing status before another submission.
  • An interaction is disabled: check the account's available settings; reconnecting cannot override a platform restriction.
