LinkedIn document post checklist: slides, context and accessibility

Prepare a document carousel for LinkedIn, review its reading order and publish it with a useful caption and a clear destination.

By the Postly Team

Before you start

Use a final document and the correct connected profile or organization. An organic document post, a multi-image post and a paid carousel ad are different formats.

Prepare and review the release

  1. Write the document's argument before designing slides. Start with the reader's problem, show evidence or a worked process, and end with one next action.
  2. Export and open the actual document that will be uploaded. Check page order, embedded fonts, readable labels, contrast and links; include essential information in text rather than only in pictures.
  3. Select the LinkedIn destination and document option available in Postly. Give the document a meaningful title and write a caption that explains who it helps without repeating every slide.
  4. Review the published document on a small screen. Check whether a reader can understand the example without magnifying each page and whether the caption's destination is useful.

Worked example

A consulting team turns a migration retrospective into six pages: the original problem, the old process, the new process, a before-and-after table, a limitation, and a checklist. Its caption invites readers to use the checklist rather than claiming every company will achieve the same result.

If something goes wrong

  • Unreadable slides: increase text size in the source document and export again.
  • Wrong author: verify the selected personal or organization destination before release.
  • Document upload fails: inspect the file and upload result; a document must finish uploading before the post can reference it.
