Postly Playbook
A publishing method you can make your own.
Define your business, direction and routine once. Turn that Playbook into a campaign and posts, run it with Postly AI or your own agent, and reuse the template whenever you need it.
Your recipe. Your campaign. Your posts.
A Playbook is a reusable template. Use it to create a standard Postly campaign and prepare the posts that belong to it. Copy the template for another business or campaign, then customize it without copying account IDs or credentials.
- Your business. Tell us what you do and who you help. Add your website, a YouTube video or a PDF, Word or text document for focused context.
- Your direction. Choose what your account should be known for, or let AI propose an editable direction. Detailed brand and research rules are tucked under More options.
- Your routine. Choose Postly AI or your own agent, a day, week, month, year or custom frequency, and whether you want to review posts or publish automatically.
Open Postly Playbook beside New campaign. Saving creates or updates the ordinary campaign; it never publishes a post by itself. Preview the first content and confirm the accounts, media and schedule before starting.
Choose how the work gets done.
Use Postly AI: reuse your existing AI integration to prepare drafts, or start a reviewed Auto Post workflow. Postly’s cloud scheduler runs activated workflows while your computer is off. Keep your AI access, credits and social connections available. Auto Post currently excludes recurring X destinations. Supported formats depend on the provider and destination; short generated clips do not satisfy our 60-second video rule.
Use your own agent: copy the Playbook instructions into Codex, Claude or another compatible agent. Configure its tools, authorized Postly access and schedule there, including fresh X posts or finished narrated videos. An agent running locally needs its computer available; a hosted agent can run independently. External-agent connection details are separate from the Playbook setup.
How our demo runs: Codex + Postly API
Our setup: Codex + Postly API.
Codex is the AI agent managing research, drafting, media production, review, scheduled execution and delivery checks in our example. It submits the reviewed package through Postly API. Postly handles publishing to the selected connected destinations and returns their outcomes. The agent checks those outcomes; acceptance alone is not proof of publication.
- Connect your social accounts and create a Playbook campaign in the correct workspace.
- Obtain authorized Postly API access. Keep credentials in your agent environment, never in public prompts or examples.
- Give your agent the approved brief, sources, media rules, campaign ID, channels, timezone, schedule and exception policy.
- Preview a package and check the account routing before enabling scheduled execution.
- Include
campaign_idin every submission and verify stored association and independent delivery. Fix partial failures without duplicating successful destinations.
External-agent setup does not automatically install Codex or start its scheduler. Configure those deliberately. Agent tools, narration, rendering and service availability depend on your setup.
External-agent connection options
MCP connects a compatible AI assistant or agent to Postly tools. It is not the agent or scheduling engine. The same Playbook can guide an agent using the API directly or MCP.
Follow the API guide or MCP connection guide for your client and authentication. Confirm your agent can run scheduled tasks and produce the required media, then verify independent delivery outcomes.
Four accounts, distinct expertise.
- Paul: product marketing, small-business advisory and practical AI.
- Postly: social publishing, distribution and measurement.
- AskOnu: practical AI support and customer care.
- Meetyn: meetings, events and group coordination.
Our current routine calls for reviewed 60–90 second videos with a clear introduction, concrete example, closing recap and final audience CTA. Postly’s Google Business Profile receives a reviewed image companion. Users should adapt cadence and formats to their own channels, resources and audience.
Results, with the context intact.
Our four-account example

Counts cover associated Postly records with native receipts. GBP image companions are separate records, not extra editorial packages. Older native posts outside Postly are excluded. Historical records added to these campaigns are not all generated by the current Playbook. Follower baselines start at the first available observation; account change is not campaign attribution.
Daily snapshots refresh automatically from the authorized workflow. Metrics can be unavailable because of provider access, unsupported fields or missing history. We do not claim causal growth, guaranteed performance or a historical baseline we never recorded.
Hands-free publishing after setup.
Your agent can run the agreed routine while your campaign keeps the work organized. Review exceptions and results, improve the brief, and keep the publishing authority under your control.
