MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is a common starting point. Review orientation, sound and playback in your editor, then upload the finished file.
Review the guidance
Postly flags confirmed incompatibilities and identifies information it could not inspect. Re-export when needed; your uploaded video stays unchanged.
The export checklist
Keep the creative choices in your hands.
File & encoding
Use a format accepted by the selected destination. Renaming a file does not convert its codec. Limited MP4/MOV header checks can identify encoding when that information is available.
Framing & playback
Review duration, resolution, aspect ratio, rotation and audio in your editor. A lightweight header read does not verify every frame, track, color setting or peak bitrate.
The media URL
For CSV, Google Sheets, API or MCP, use a direct, publicly accessible media file URL. A watch page or a private sharing page is not the video file.
Destination support
Google Business Profile local posts do not accept video through Postly. Choose an image for that destination, or publish the video to a supported channel.

Editor
Review the selected channel’s media guidance before publishing. There is no automatic video repair or content transformation.
CSV & Google Sheets
Correct rejected rows and resubmit only those rows. Accepted Sheets rows can carry guidance without becoming failures.

Read the result and guidance together. Unverified metadata does not mean the upload failed, and accepted posts should not be submitted again just to remove a warning.

Is Postly a video editor?
Postly helps validate and publish videos. It does not provide timeline editing, trimming, cropping, compression or re-encoding. Make those changes in your video editor, then upload the exported copy.
What can the lightweight check detect?
Postly checks supported media types, format, size and available duration and dimensions. A small, time-limited MP4/MOV header check can identify video encoding, reported frame rate and average bitrate. Other formats, metadata at the end of a file and unavailable headers remain unverified; codecs, audio, frame timing and peak bitrate are not fully verified. No video is converted, trimmed, cropped or re-encoded. Re-export incompatible files for the selected destination. Checks cannot guarantee provider acceptance.
Does this delay scheduled publishing?
The optional video-header inspection runs during preparation, not in the publishing worker. It has strict time and read limits and does not download or scan an entire video.
What should I do with a warning?
Read the destination guidance. A confirmed incompatibility requires a corrected export. An incomplete check is not a failed upload; do not resubmit an accepted post just because inspection was incomplete.
