BYO Reddit App Setup

Bring your own Reddit app so Postly can publish through credentials you control instead of a shared Postly publishing identity.

Direct Reddit link posts are often filtered or removed. For better deliverability, create a text, image, or video post and place links in the first comment.

Workflow

  1. 1Create or open your Reddit app in Reddit developer settings.
  2. 2Use the redirect URL shown by Postly for the Reddit connection.
  3. 3Copy your Reddit Client ID and Client Secret.
  4. 4Paste both values into Postly and finish the OAuth connection.
  5. 5Keep the credentials private and rotate them if access changes.

Text only

Reddit text post. Safest for context and community value.

Text + media

Image or video media post with supporting text.

Text + link

Discouraged. Move the link to the first comment.

What Postly provides

Postly provides the redirect URL and the connection screen where your credentials are stored for publishing.

What you provide

You provide the Client ID and Client Secret from your Reddit app. This helps avoid publishing through one shared app identity.

Why it matters

A BYO app setup creates clearer ownership and better deliverability than routing every workspace through the same shared publishing identity.

BYO Reddit app reminder

Postly provides the redirect URL. You provide the Client ID and Client Secret from your Reddit app. This keeps publishing tied to your own app and avoids a Postly shared publishing identity.
