Getting Started with Reddit Publishing

Use Postly to plan Reddit posts around subreddit fit, post type, flair, first comments and safe scheduling controls.

Direct Reddit link posts are often filtered or removed. For better deliverability, create a text, image, or video post and place links in the first comment.

Workflow

  1. 1Connect Reddit through your own Reddit app credentials.
  2. 2Select the subreddit before drafting so rules and flair stay visible.
  3. 3Choose a safer post type: text, image or video.
  4. 4Move promotional links to the first comment when the subreddit allows it.
  5. 5Review title, text body, media, flair and timing before scheduling.

Text + link

Discouraged. Move the link to the first comment.

Postly provides the redirect URL. You configure your Reddit app and provide the Client ID and Client Secret so publishing stays tied to your app.

Default to native Reddit formats

Text-only posts are usually the safest starting point. Text plus image displays as a Reddit image or media post, and text plus video displays as a video or media post with supporting text.

Avoid direct link automation

Text plus link should be discouraged or blocked for automation-heavy workflows. Put links in the first comment when allowed.

BYO Reddit app reminder

Postly provides the redirect URL. You provide the Client ID and Client Secret from your Reddit app. This keeps publishing tied to your own app and avoids a Postly shared publishing identity.
