    Social media content formats

    TikTok publishing:

    1. a. TikTok Post: video up to 4GB and 10 mins: MP4-recommended, WebM, Mov and 1080 x 1920 px.
    2. b. Note: When posting on TikTok, remember that the platform only displays the content written in the title field. Please ensure to include all necessary details in the title field to effectively communicate your message.

    YouTube publishing:

    1. a. YouTube Post: video up to 10GB.
    2. b. YouTube Shorts are automatically published. YouTube Shorts can be up to 60 seconds in length. Videos must be in a vertical orientation with a 9:16 aspect ratio.
    3. c. Add 1st comment to YouTube posts (also known as Description).

    Facebook publishing:

    1. a. Multiple Images & Videos, Links.
    2. b. Facebook Carousel Post with up to 10 images and image links.
    3. c. Supports Image and Video upload via Links.
    4. d. At the moment, you cannot publish images and videos at the same time on Facebook. If you combine them, then only the video will be published, as the API will remove the image.
    5. e. Facebook First Comment: This feature is not available yet.

    Facebook image types:

    1. a. The image must be less than 8MB in size. Format: JPEG, PNG, GIF.
    2. b. Image formats: PNG, JPEG, GIFs, etc. You can publish up to 10 images in one post.
    3. c. Aspect ratio: Must be within a 4:5 to 1.91:1 range.
    4. d. Minimum width: 320 - will be scaled up to the minimum if necessary.
    5. e. Maximum width: 1440 - will be scaled down to the maximum if necessary.
    6. f. For full specification, please check the link: Facebook Image specification. Please note that uploading via Postly is managed by the Facebook API and will provide a different experience than upload via the Facebook platforms.

    Facebook video:

    1. a. Facebook post: video up to 10GB and 4 hours.

    Facebook Reels:

    1. a. Facebook Reels: video up to 10GB and 90 secs: MP4, 1080 x 1920 px and aspect ratio of 9:16.

    Facebook Stories:

    1. a. Facebook Stories: video up to 10GB and 60 secs: MP4, 1080 x 1920 px and aspect ratio of 9:16.
    2. c. You can publish only one Image. Multiple-images post is not supported.

    Facebook Carousel:

    1. Now you can publish up to 10 images with associated links to help boost your business awareness and sales.
    2. Key benefits of Facebook Carousel posts are:
    3. 1. Boost engagement: Keep your audience engaged and scrolling with a captivating carousel.
    4. 2. More reach: More engagement means more reach, likes, and shares!
    5. 3. Drive conversions: Link each carousel card to your website or landing page, making it easy for your audience to take action!
    6. 4. Save time: No need to post multiple times. Schedule and automate your carousels in advance for consistent, eye-catching content.

    Threads publishing:

    Posts, and Replies:

    1. a. Text posts are limited to 500 characters.
    2. b. The API posts all replies after 15 - 30 seconds of publishing the main content.

    Image posts:

    1. a. Format: JPEG and PNG image types are the officially supported formats for image posts.
    2. b. File Size: 8 MB maximum.
    3. c. Aspect Ratio Limit: 10:1.
    4. d. Minimum Width: 320 (will be scaled up to the minimum if necessary).
    5. e. Maximum Width: 1440 (will be scaled down to the maximum if necessary).
    6. f. Height: Varies (depending on width and aspect ratio).
    7. g. Color Space: sRGB. Images using other color spaces will have their color spaces converted to sRGB.
    8. f. Carousel posts must have a maximum of 10 children and a minimum of 2 children.

    video posts:

    1. a. File Size: 1 GB maximum.
    2. b. Duration: 300 seconds (5 minutes) maximum, minimum longer than 0 seconds.
    3. c. Container: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), no edit lists, moov atom at the front of the file.
    4. d. Audio Codec: AAC, 48khz sample rate maximum, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).
    5. e. Video Codec: HEVC or H264, progressive scan, closed GOP, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.
    6. f. Frame Rate: 23-60 FPS.
    7. g. Picture Size: Maximum Columns (horizontal pixels): 1920.
    8. g. Picture Size: Required aspect ratio is between 0.01:1 and 10:1 but we recommend 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space.
    9. i. Video Bitrate: VBR, 25 Mbps maximum.
    10. j. Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps.

    Instagram publishing:

    1. a. Multiple Images & Videos.
    2. b. Instagram Carousel Post with up to 10 images.
    3. c. Tag users.
    4. d. Add 1st comment to posts.
    5. e. Image with a width of at least 1080 pixels with an aspect ratio between 1.91:1 and 4:5.

    Instagram Post:

    1. a. Video must be MP4 or MOV.
    2. b. Instagram Post: video up to 1GB, min 3 secs, max 15 mins, 1080 x 1920px.
    3. c. All Instagram Video posts under fifteen minutes will be automatically published as Reels. Instagram Reels guide.

    Instagram Reels:

    1. a. Video must be MP4 or MOV.
    2. b. Instagram Reels: video up to 1GB, min 3 secs, max 15 mins, 1080 x 1920px.

    Instagram Stories:

    1. a. Video must be MP4 or MOV.
    2. b. Instagram Stories: video up to 100MB, min 3 secs, max 60 secs, 1080 x 1920px.

    Twitter publishing:

    1. a. Twitter Post: video up to 512MB, min 0.5 secs, max 140 secs.
    2. b. Images up to 5MB.
    3. c. You can upload up to 4 Images per tweet. If you have a Thread, then each tweet on the Thread can contain 4 images.
    4. d. Publish Single Tweets and Threads. Threads are automatically generated - user can edit on Preview page.
    5. e. Publish Twitter Polls.
    6. f. Tag users.

    LinkedIn publishing:

    1. a. LinkedIn Post: video up to 5GB.
    2. b. Publish up to 9 Images per post.
    3. c. Images up to 5MB.
    4. d. Publish Polls.

    Google Business Profile:

    1. a. Publish only one image at a time.
    2. b. Does not allow video posts at the moment due to API restrictions.

    Pinterest publishing:

    a. Publish Images and Videos.
    b. Supported media formats: MP4-recommended, WebM, Mov.


    Reddit publishing:

    1. a. Publish Images and Videos.
    2. b. Reddit will publish a post description message if ONLY a text post was made.
    3. c. If you make a text and image or video post, Reddit will remove the text and publish the image or video.
    4. d. Supported media formats: MP4-recommended, WebM, Mov.

    Telegram publishing:

    1. a. Publish Images and Videos.
    2. b. Publish a maximum of 9 images per post.
    3. c. Supported media formats: MP4-recommended, WebM, Mov.
    4. d. Publish content via the default @postly_bot.
    5. e. Publish content via a customized Telegram Bot (check Telegram platform connection page to customize a bot).

    Blogger publishing:

    1. a. Publish Text, Images and Videos.
    2. b. Supported media formats: MP4-recommended, WebM, Mov.

    RSS Feed publishing:

    1. a. Publish RSS Feed content.

    WordPress publishing:

    1. a. Publish blog posts to wordpress.com and hosted WordPress sites.

    Recommended post lengths for the social media platforms:

    1. Facebook:
    2. a. Post Length: Ideal: 40-80 characters. Maximum: 63,206 characters.
    3. b. Hashtags:Optimal: 1-2 hashtags. Maximum: Unlimited (but best practice is to keep it minimal to avoid looking spammy).

    4. Instagram:
    5. a. Post Length: Ideal: 138-150 characters. Maximum: 2,200 characters.
    6. b. Hashtags:Optimal: 5-10 hashtags. Maximum: 30 hashtags per post.

    Links scheduler

    Publish image and video links:

    1. a. Use direct link - that accesses the image or video directly: e.g. This is an example of a direct Video URL: https://myvideo.com/cat.mp4
    2. b. YouTube video URLs are NOT recommended for publishing to TikTok and Instagram. Please use other video platforms.

    Platform connection permissions

    Platform connection permissions:

    1. a. You must be a Super Admin (LinkedIn), Admin (most platforms), Manager(Google Business Profile), Channel owner (YouTube) to the accounts. Content Admin and other sub-admin roles are not allowed.
    2. b. Please accept ALL permissions while connecting your account.
    3. c. Some account connections expire every 60 days, ensure to reconnect your account periodically for a good experience.
    4. d. Reconnecting your account does not affect already scheduled posts, they will still be published at the scheduled time.
    5. e. Note that logging out of your social platforms, changing your social media account password, or login details will affect your connections here, reconnect to ensure a good experience.

    Multiple accounts connection

    Multiple accounts connection:

    1. a. Some platforms do not allow multiple accounts on the same browser session.
    2. b. You would have to first sign in to all your Facebook accounts on a different browser tab and then switch to each to connect it to Postly.
    3. c. Alternatively, you can sign in/sign out to one account at a time, while connecting each to Postly.
