Tools to Elevate Your WordPress Content

    Self-hosted WordPress connection instructions.

    1. 1. Create an app password from your WordPress account. This will be used to authenticate the connection between Postly and your self-hosted WordPress site.

    2. 2. To create an app password:
    3. a. Log in to your WordPress admin panel using an account with administrator privileges.
    4. b. Navigate to Users, then to Your Profile.
    5. c. Scroll down to the section titled "Application Passwords".
    6. d. Click the button "Add New Application Password".
    7. e. Give your new password a descriptive name (e.g., "Mobile App Login").
    8. f. Crucially: Copy and paste the generated password to a secure location. You won't be able to retrieve it later.

    10. 3. Generate a new app password and make a note of it. This password will be used in the next step.

    11. 4. Return to the Postly application and enter the following details:
    12. a. Website Name: Enter the name of your self-hosted WordPress site.
    13. b. Website URL: Enter the URL of your self-hosted WordPress site.
    14. c. Username: Enter the username associated with your WordPress account.
    15. d. Application Password: Enter the app password you generated in the previous step.

    16. 5. Click the "Connect" button to initiate the connection process.
    17. 6. Postly will attempt to establish a connection with your self-hosted WordPress site using the provided credentials. If the connection is successful, you will receive a success message.
    18. 7. If there are any errors or issues during the connection process, an error message will be displayed. Double-check the entered details and try again.
    19. 8. Please note that you must have admin access to your self-hosted WordPress site in order to connect and post successfully.

    20. WordPress Application Password⚠ If you have a security plugin, it might interfare with the connection and you will get an error message similar to the screenshot above.

    Platforms connection permissions

    1. a. You must be a Super Admin (LinkedIn), Admin (most platforms), Manager(Google Business Profile), Channel owner (YouTube) to the accounts. Content Admin and other sub-admin roles are not allowed.
    2. b. Please accept ALL permissions while connecting your account.

    3. c. If you encounter error (#10) Application does not have permission for this action, it means that you did not accept all permissions while connecting your Facebook and Instagram account. Kindly disconnect and reconnect to proceed. Ensure you accept all permissions when reconnecting.
    4. d. Some account connections expire every 60 days, ensure to reconnect your account periodically for a good experience.
    5. e. Reconnecting your account does not affect already scheduled posts, they will still be published at the scheduled time.
    6. f. Note that logging out of your social platforms, changing your social media account password, or login details will affect your connections here, reconnect to ensure a good experience.

    Multiple-accounts connection

    1. a. Some platforms do not allow multiple accounts on the same browser session.
    2. b. You would have to first sign in to all your Facebook accounts on a different browser tab and then switch to each to connect it to Postly.
    3. c. Alternatively, you can sign in/sign out to one account at a time, while connecting each to Postly.
