Permission Issues
Troubleshoot permission errors when connecting or managing social media accounts on Postly.
Why Permission Issues Occur
Permission errors happen when Postly lacks the necessary access to manage your social media accounts. Common causes include:
- Insufficient account roles (e.g., not an admin on a Facebook Page).
- Expired or revoked API tokens, requiring reauthorization.
- Platform restrictions due to security settings or account status.
- Incomplete setup during Postly's account connection process.
Below are platform-specific steps to resolve these issues and restore Postly's access.
Platform-Specific Troubleshooting
Follow these steps for each platform to fix permission errors and reconnect your accounts to Postly.
Facebook requires Admin role for Pages and specific app permissions for Postly. Errors like 'Insufficient permissions' or 'Access token expired' may occur.
- Log in to Facebook and go to your Page's Settings > Roles.
- Ensure your account has Admin access to the Page.
- Verify Postly's app permissions in Business Integrations (Settings > Accounts > Apps and Websites).
- Reconnect the account in Postly's dashboard under Settings > Social Accounts.
- If errors persist, revoke Postly's access in Facebook and reconnect from scratch.
Instagram requires a Professional Account (Business or Creator) and specific permissions via Meta's Business Integrations. Errors like 'Permission denied' may appear.
